Yes, I've noticed a big jump in my weight loss when I start drinking lots of water so that's probably a good plan. You could alway try Hacker's for a month to catch up :)
Jude Govender
25th Apr '07 11:27:55
well the plan was to lose 3kg a month to reach final goal weight in december so i was supposed to be 103kg after 2 months.

not sure if it is water retention at the moment although I am trying to get back to the whole 3L a day stint. will see how the next few days pan out

Where you are 'supposed' to be?
Jude Govender
24th Apr '07 12:36:53
So two months have come and gone and I'm a little short of where I'm supposed to be - 1.3kg short!

So I'll have to try and kick some ass this month to make up the difference.
sigh

It's probably just your body re-hydrating. It'll settle down I'm sure.

You blew your chance to sniff me this last friday - sorry. The tummy bugs gone now, and the weight is slowly creeping back...damn!
Chereen Harding

Jude, I know this is gonna sound gross but - could you swing by my office so that I can sniff you? I could use a tummy bug round about now :)

Oh - and Woo hoo! 5kgs! Told you it wouldn't take long.

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't think Hollywood exec's are brave enough to pitch that kinda idea yet. Especially after the 'nox-office' failure of The Hulk.

I dunno - I thought the whole movie was lame. I feel they were overly optimistic with the effects, failed to pull them off and ended up with a trashy product. Not to mention the horrible dialogue.

When it comes to superhero movies, I'd like to see someone have the courage to do a full-length animated feature film (comic-style). I think that would have been a much better approach for Ghost Rider.
Amanda Gillespie

I thought Ghost Rider was a little flat, if you ask me. The special effects were great, but not so much on the dialogue and story line. And, Nicolas Cage cried, once again.

Jude Govender
13th Mar '07 07:12:21
Yeah, I should be fine in CT. Must just stay away from the creamy and marinaded stuff (sigh). But I'll try my best to be good!
Chereen Harding
13th Mar '07 05:57:16
So long as the trend line is a downward slope - no need to panic. Come up with a plan for CT that is realistic and you'll be fine :)
Jude Govender

Wow. Really chiffed that my weight is the same over the weekend considering the binge I had on saturday. Just focusing on gathering up enough willpower for the Cape Town trip. Lots of suppers and stuff planned. (sigh)

The walking group sounds neat. And don't beat yourself up over the wobbly ( it happens to us all ) - it is SO counter-productive. Just work out what factors caused the wobbly ( lack of forward planning / appropriate food etc. ) and guard against it in future.
Jude Govender
26th Feb '07 07:04:32
Hit a major wobbly this weekend. No exercise and ate really really badly (my fault).

But on the good side, I've joined a walking group - we walk for 30mins in and around Hilton. Started today and gonna go 4 times a week. Eventually build it up to a 30min run.

Ok, the weight loss seems to be going a bit too quickly - not that I'm really complaining though ;)

Also decided I need to up my water intake so working on drinking 3L a day - a lot harder than it sounds.

I have made a list of calories in foods I regularly eat. I made the list using: nutritional info on the side of packs, online calorie databases and nutritional breakdowns published by restaurants. I was surprised by how short the list is ( currently 85 items ). I also make sure the listing is in quantities I normally eat and sometimes includes meals I eat too ( Breakfast is always the same so I put the calories in the whole breakfast on the list ). This list covers about 95% of what I eat.

It isn't nearly as labor-intensive as one would think ( counting cals ), just requires a bit more care when cooking ( I jot down what I throw in the pot as I cook ). If I eat something prepared by someone else, I look for the closest thing on a restaurant menu, or a storemade food listed in the calorie databases. I figure I can make a pretty good estimate based on that ( and I usually times what I think it is by 1.1 to give myself some leeway ).

Most of my recipes don't give me calorie counts, so I work them out while I'm waiting for water to boil or whatever. 50g tomato (9cal) plus 38g rice etc. etc. etc.
Jude Govender
20th Feb '07 07:10:12
Well, until you very kindly tell me how you're working out calories (remember I'm not cooking set recipes that give you a calorie count) then I'll half ignore/guestimate.
Chereen Harding
20th Feb '07 06:40:41
Shiny! Glad to have you on board! We've got a similar amount to lose - so I know it feels like a mountain. There are loads of great people on Traineo though - if you are feeling down just leave a note on the forum - you won't believe how helpful and supportive everyone is.

Are you planning on calorie counting ( like me ), ignoring calories ( like D ), or guesstimating ( like Mandy )?
Jude Govender
19th Feb '07 10:45:23
Ok. So basically I'm joining the bandwagon and hoping that this can help me stick to the plan to lose weight. By the way...my starting weight is most likely incorrect so my first weight log will be the correct one (ouch - not looking forward to that).

As mentioned in the profile I'll be using the WeightWatchers diet. And seeing as how I can't afford to go to gym anymore...I'm going to use the Airforce thingie I got from Darius as well as a combination of elliptical machine and core-ball exercises.
